HEDD Audio updates the speaker control software HEDD CTRL. Version 2.0.1 expands the capabilities of the virtual monitor control MK2/BASS system by per-band bypass of the parametric equalizer, smarter device sorting, enhanced speaker highlighting, and updated immersive format labeling. Additionally, handling of IGMP snooping on network switches has been improved to increase the stability of speaker connections. The new update adds to the already versatile capabilities of HEDD CTRL, which allows for full remote management of MK2 speakers and subwoofers of up to 250 speakers. Custom frequency responses, delay adjustments, phase alignment, and group management are no longer a time-consuming process but just a few clicks away.
Monitoring as an integrated system
HEDD Audio MK2 range monitors are designed to deliver absolute sonic precision to satisfy even the highest standards. They offer enhanced flexibility to adjust the sound through features such as zero-phase filters, the HEDD Lineariser, and closed and ported modes for distinct sonic characteristics. EQ, phase alignments and delay functionality allows the user to manually correct the room. A 12-band parametric equalizer for global, group-dependent, or per speaker customization is at hand, just like system-wide phase alignment and a special zero-latency recording mode. The new update allows users to individually bypass each band of the equalizer, making A/B comparisons much easier. Version 2.0.1 also fixes equalizer input issues and a scaling bug that some users experienced. For larger CTRL-based systems with up to 250 speakers, improved handling of IGMP snooping on network switches helps support more reliable speaker connections.
Enhanced speaker management
HEDD CTRL allows for simple and intuitive device management. All connected units can be named as well as put in mute and solo. A customizable auto-sleep and wake-up feature enables individual standby configurations. Additionally, speakers can be arranged in different groups. On one hand, this simplifies scaling the system according to different playback formats such as 2.1 or 7.1. On the other hand, it makes frequency crossovers and distributions easy to check, for example by grouping the speakers into surrounds, front, rear, and LFE. Of course, all settings in CTRL can be saved as presets, so the system can be quickly set up for different applications with a few clicks. The update enhances that experience by visually highlighting speakers whose back panel Lineariser switch is not set to the (*) position as required for CTRL operation. Especially in larger and more complex monitoring systems, this new feature helps identify misconfigurations quickly. HEDD Audio has also improved the immersive setup workflow of HEDD CTRL by adding assignment labels and device sorting to match the relevant standards.
An update for the whole MK2/BASS system
The new version 2.0.1 of HEDD CTRL includes a matching firmware update for the currently supported speakers: TYPE 05 MK2, TYPE 07 MK2, TYPE 20 MK2, TYPE 30 MK2, and the subwoofers BASS 08 and BASS 12. The speaker firmware update is required for the new CTRL features to work correctly. HEDD CTRL continues to be an accessible remote monitor control environment that provides users with intuitive usability and the option to deep dive into customizations. This new release provides a good foundation for future releases to integrate with room measurements software.
